Club Boats

1117381 orig

The club maintains a selection of dinghies for use by paid-up members.

Club boats must not be used if the wind is gusting 20 mph or more, as indicated on the club weather station, or failing that, as judged by a suitably experienced member, or if the forecast is for gusts of 20 mph or more (on XC Weather for Oldbury on Severn).

Only the club's Wayfarer and Wanderer (2 person) dinghies may be hired for long distance races, and hirers should be aware of the tidal effects, for example, how winds can feel like 15mph going upriver with the tide and can increase to 20 mph when the tide turns.

Please remember that the boats are a resource for the whole club and must be treated with respect and looked after. However, it is well known that there will be wear and tear, things fall off and breakages do happen. It is therefore very important to make sure that you report anything amiss on the "Club Boat Faults" Forum so that they can be fixed and made ready for the next user.

If you are using a club boat for independent sailing outside of safety-boat cover, make sure that you are Sailing Safely. In short, it is your decision alone whether it is safe to go out; if you are unsure, then it's not safe!
