Bar Duty

Bar Duty is usually quite a relaxed duty and a great way to meet people. It is easy to pick up and there are usually people around who can help if needed.

Please be ready to serve by the time the race finishes. Finish times do vary, as some races are longer than others. A good guide would be to arrive by the time of High Water for the day, which is given for each event in the Calendar; this will give you time to set up and prepare for the rush!

Preparations include ensuring that the fridges are stocked (the key to the stock room is kept under the cash tray). Make yourself familiar with the zettle tablet, card reader and bar prices. The two most used buttons on the zettle app is "TSC Bar" and "TSC Galley".

It will also be worthwhile introducing yourself to the person running the galley kitchen. The zettle/card reader can be used to purchase galley food and some cooks like to use the yellow tokens (in a box on one of the shelves under the bar) to have a running total of how many meals they've served. In this case, when someone wants to purchase a meal, give them a yellow token which they will then hand to the galley in exchange with a meal.

There is a very useful quick-guide attached to the wall of the bar, which you can also download by clicking on the link below.
