RYA First Aid
PLEASE NOTE
The course will start at 9am, so please arrive a bit early to get yourself a coffee and be ready to start on time. It may be a good idea to bring a pen and paper, in case you want to take notes. Finish is at 5pm.
-------
The RYA First Aid course is a one-day course which includes maritime elements. It is available to all members and is free of charge - we just ask you to put your hand up if there is an incident at the club which would benefit from your first aid skills.
The RYA First Aid course is the default first aid training required for those holding any RYA instructor qualifications or commercial endorsements and is designed for the specific demands of providing first aid afloat. It is also accepted by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) for use on board small commercial vessels and by World Sailing for compliance with the Offshore Special Regulations, and covers the requirements of the Health and Safety regulations for the purposes of emergency first aid at work training.
The course covers the required elements for RYA instructors; TSC instructors will be given priority in the event that the course is over-subscribed.
Booking conditions
This course is very important to the on-going operation of TSC, so places are valuable. There is, therefore, no charge for members to do the course, the costs are picked up the by the club.
Unfortunately, however, in the past people have signed up and then failed to attend. This results in a lost opportunity for the club to provide valuable training and to other members who would like to take the course.
If you book a place and fail to attend without good cause or giving good notice (at least a week, but ideally 30 days), you may be required to pay a £30 contribution to the club's training fund.
