Easter Regatta Weekend

The Easter Regatta weekend got the 2021 season off to a flying start, with loads of boats out and sailing very day.

We kicked-off with Free Sailing on Saturday, which saw nearly 20 boats out on the water blowing off the cobwebs and checking everything still worked.

Saturday saw a change to the planned Long Distance Race, as it was too cold to send dinghies out a long way from home. Instead there was a Mini-Series of short races, to give people a chance to practice their starts and blast around a short course - well done to Hannah and Nick on topping the table on count-back after a 3 way tie, and an informal Cruiser race out to Woolaston, which nearly had SARA joining in before blushes were saved by the last foot of a rising tide.

Sunday hosted the first 2 races of the Spring Series, where 20 boats (9 Fast and 11 Slow) competed in some tight racing in perfect conditions. Check out these photos courtesy of Julie Bowden. Well done to John Harvey, who won both races (see the results).

The culmination was the Easter Pursuit on Monday. F4 / 5 winds and rolling waves coming down from the North meant conditions were bordering on hostile. 5 boats started, 2 were broken by the conditions, and 3 made it home, led by Emily Elms who showed a mastery of her Laser and made it look easy! A big thank you to everyone who turned out for duties, especially the RIB teams on Monday for sticking it out!
