Frostbite 2022 of to a great start

The Frostbite Cruiser series has got off to a cracking start this monthj, under the new Pursuit format and using personalised handicaps.
The first race saw 7 boats take to the water, with 2 taken out of the fleet at the last minute by Covid. With a decent breeze, it was a competitive race, even though the personalised handicaps were set to zero as the starting point. Mercenary took the honours on the water, despite an excellent challenge from Temujin, and the prize of a 5 minute handicap to take into the Frostbite 2.
A good fleet of 8 boats made it out for the second race and were rewarded with a light breeze that filled in to replace the forecast calm. Consequently, the race favoured the faster boats, as the early starters struggling to get across the line against in light airs, and First Time held Mercenary off in a tight finish.
As hoped, the early signs are that the personalised handicaps are having the desired affect and are tightening the field, the later races promise to see some close racing. The next race is on Sunday 6 February, starting at 10 ... giving you a perfect opportunity for a riverside walk and a drink before lunch!
