Working Party 25th Nov

Thank you to all those members who have made a tremendous effort on the two recent working parties held on 14th Oct and 24th Nov. We planned a tyre wall as a precursur to protecting the flood bank. What we have done is more than I expected. Special thanks to Norman Knapp who has provided about 600 tyres, Paul Chapman for about another 200. To Sue, Angela and Joan for providing coffee and bacon rolls. Very much appreciated. To date we have driven in 220 stakes (with the aid of a JCB) and consumed all these tyres plus a few more which I obtained from Ebley Tyres in Thornbury. We still have to finish it off, which will entail placement of tyres only. Sometime in the New Year in between the winter cruiser series at dates to be decided.

Regards, Barry

Working Party 7th October

That was a marvellous Working Party; we achieved so much more than I had dared to hope. A Big Thank You to all who came to help. We have created some highly desirable spaces close to the main gate; so if you sail very regularly and want one of them let me know. We have moved some dinghies, with care, so do check your boats.

For the sake of those who cut the grass can you use those screw-in dog posts or wooden posts left at least a foot above ground to secure your boats-

NOT HORRIBLE BITS OF IRON!

Sally began painting numbers on posts (and on her jeans and her trainers and her hands ) so we should get the main area numbered shortly. We did make a start on the trailer compound and it is much more spacious without all the undergrowth. Agood bonfire has removed the wood rubbish but we must ask members to cut up and dispose of their own 'dead' fibreglass boats asap. The next big push will be to widen the alley for the cats and also widen the bends but they need respacing too. I will need the cat sailors help for that. We can fix a date when Barry has got his post and tyre wall up.

See you then, Joan Booys
