Challenge: Development 3

This Challenge: Development session looks at Day Sailing & Seamanship Skills, including:

  • How to get and use local tide information
  • Understanding the effect of tide and wind direction on sailing conditions
  • Basic chart orientation, including cardinal and lateral buoyage systems
  • How to take a bearing and measure distances on a chart

The outline timings are:

  • Get you and your boat ready (75 mins) - arrive by 13:15
  • On-shore session (45 mins) - Start Time = 14:30
  • Get on the water (15 mins)
  • On water activity (120 mins)
  • Get off the water (45 mins)
  • De-brief in the club house (15 mins)
  • Social (as long as you like!)

The Challenge Series is focused on sailor development, giving sailors the opportunity to develop and practice new skills as they work their way from newbie to experienced sailors.
